This is a daily frustration for me (having to create a notes task) in my lists. List are projects and we should have project support materials we can link to.
Also there is a duplicate idea for this with 19 votes here: https://todo.uservoice.com/forums/597175-feature-suggestions/suggestions/18984325-text-notes-in-lists

While we aren’t creating a My Day version that you can plan the night before at the moment, we have made significant updates to our Planned list.
Rolling out now on Android (version 2.17), and coming soon to other platforms, you can now view a distinct tomorrow view in the Planned list. You can also group the view by lists so that you have a view of all the different projects the tasks from. You can choose to close list sections so that you only concentrate on one list section at a time.

We have the All, Assigned to you, Important, Completed and Planned smartlists.
Within the Planned smartlist you can have Today, Tomorrow, Weekly and Later subsections.

Just to echo many folks here, what would be ideal would be the ability to configure our own smartlists (i.e. create queries based on metadata). This is a key feature in Todoist and other competitors.

There is an unofficial Chrome extension, not sure if it is any good or safe: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/add-to-microsoft-to-do/loblkkbfciiklgoblkigehhghfjfjede?hl=en

The open source To Do client AO has this so there is no reason we cannot have this in the official clients. https://github.com/klaussinani/ao
