In order to migrate PST to MBOX format on a Windows machine, there is no direct method available. For that process, users need to take the help of another desktop-based email client named Mozilla Thunderbird. Here is the step-by-step guide to performing the conversion of PST to MBOX with Thunderbird. Before starting this process, make sure you have both MS Outlook and Thunderbird installed on the same Windows system.

At first, type Default App Settings in the Search box of your Window system and click on the search result.
The list of Default Applications will appear. Check if Outlook is the default application for email. If not, click on the email that is default and from the list, choose Outlook. Thus, MS Outlook will become your default email app.
Open Mozilla Thunderbird and click on Tools option from the Menu bar. A list will appear from which, choose Import.

Select the radio button beside ‘Mail’ from the dialog box and click on Next.

Select the Outlook radio button and click on Next>> Finish. When all your required data have been imported into Thunderbird, open Default Apps Setting again. Make Thunderbird as the default email for the system.

Open Thunderbird again and you will be able to locate folders containing Outlook data. Click on Tools>> ImportExport Tools >> Export folder (.zip) and choose a location for the file.

Extract the ZIP file and you will get MBOX files. Transfer the files to a Mac machine and use these by importing into any compatible email client.
Remember: This method surely takes a considerable amount of time to convert PST to MBOX with Thunderbird. Moreover, it requires the installation of Thunderbird in the Windows system.

At times it becomes a tedious task for Outlook users to handle an oversized PST file. Removing or deleting the unwanted mailbox data from the PST files one by one will definitely involve a lot of time and effort. Instead, you can split PST file into two or multiple smaller parts. You can do that in two ways:

Either you can import or copy the mailbox data from the main PST file into multiple new PST files.
Or, you can use a professional PST Splitter tool to split PST file.
First, let’s start with the DIY trick that requires no cost at all. Microsoft Outlook client contains a few built-in features which you can use here, such as Archive, Import & Export, and Copy to Folder. If you use the Archive feature, the Outlook client will create an archive file containing the mailbox data (folder and subfolders) you’ve archived earlier. You can save this archive file at any location by any name. In the same way, you need to create multiple archive files in order to split PST file into multiple parts.

Additionally, you can use the Import & Export and Copy to Folder features to import the mailbox data. Let’s suppose that you want to split PST file into four parts. First, you need to create four new PST files. You can name them Output1.pst, Output2.pst, Output3.pst, and Output4.pst. And after that, you can import, copy, or move the mailbox data from the main PST file into the 4 new PST files one by one. Make sure you take a backup of the original PST file before you can try anything here.

to convert Lotus Notes Email to Outlook Manually
Before you start manual Lotus Notes to Outlook PST email conversion, you need to remember a few important things.

Make sure you backup your Lotus Notes email files and related data before converting Lotus Notes to PST format manually
If you see NSF files, they are the default file storage files of Lotus Notes application
PST format is the default file format in which Outlook for Windows stores its email data
Since NSF format is not compatible with Outlook, you need to export the Lotus Notes NSF files to PST format
Make sure you have MS Outlook pre-installed in your computer for the most fruitful conversion results
Now that you are clear about the NSF to PST conversion process, let us begin the manual Lotus Notes to Outlook conversion :

    Launch and Open Lotus Notes
Find the NSF files that you want to convert. Click “Open”
Go to the “File” option and click on “Export”
Browse and choose the point where you wish to save the files
Select the desired format in the “Save as type” option.
Assign a name to the file and choose “Export”
In the next step, you are asked to choose how much data you want to export. If you want to export the entire database, you can do that. You can also choose individual files.
In the same step, you can choose whether you want to export the NSF files in default character format or Unicode format.

Once you have chosen both, click OK.
Congratulations, now you have successfully exported NSF files from Lotus Notes.

Now we need to Import Lotus Notes in MS Outlook

    Launch MS Outlook
    Go to File>Open
    Choose the “Import/Export” option
A wizard box will open, here you have to select ‘Import from another program or file’ and click ‘Next’
In the ‘Import a file’ dialogue box, choose ‘Comma separated values (Windows)’ and then ‘Next’
Now find the file that you had saved earlier, and click “Next”
Choose the location where you want to import the data and click “Next”
    Click on Finish

    Merge PST Data Files Manually
The manual method is not straightforward; it is a two-step process.

    Open Outlook,
Click on Home tab, click New Items, click More Items > Outlook Data File.

New Outlook PST file is now created.

Step 2: Import Outlook Data to New PST file
In this step, the data from existing PST data files will be transferred to the new file created in Step 1.

Open Outlook, and click on File tab.
    Click on Open & Export > Import/Export.
    Click on Open & Export

Select Import from another program or file; click Next.
    Select Import

Select Outlook Data file (.pst) and click Next.
    Select Outlook Data file

Browse the PST data file to import and click Next.
    Browse the PST data

Note: Select between the options given in this step as per the need (shown in the screenshot above).

Select the folder(s) you wish to import to the new PST data file.
Note: Don’t forget to checkmark on sub-folder(s) in case of partial selection of folder(s).

    Click Finish.
Importing from old Outlook PST data file is successful, but Step 2 has to be repeated to complete the migration from multiple PST data files. Above, the data is imported from a single file only, though the iterative count of Step 2 would depend on the number of PST data files you have from which you wish to import data into a single Outlook PST file.

Mac / Apple Mail accepts MBOX files for importing mails, so if you want to import the orphan PST file into Mac machine, you need to perform Outlook PST to MBOX format conversion. By using the Mac Outlook email client you can easily migrate file into MBOX file. Follow the steps to perform the conversion and import MBOX file into the Apple Mail.

Launch Mac Outlook 2016 or 2011 version on Mac system.
Click on File and then Import.
Select “Outlook Data File (.pst or .olm)” option and then click right-arrow.
Choose Outlook for Windows Data File (.pst) >> click on right-arrow icon.
Go to the location of PST file and select it.
Click on Import and the PST file data will be moved into Mac Outlook.
Open the home screen of Mac Outlook and under On My Computer section, the imported file can be found.
Drag this folder to Mac desktop and the file will get saved in MBOX file format. This file can be imported into Apple Mail using its native import option.
Remember: In this process, only one PST file can be imported at a time. Moreover, users need to install Outlook for Mac email application on Mac machine if it is not there already.
