Adding a star automatically moves item to top of list
With Wunderlist, I liked that adding a star to a list item automatically moved it to the top. Would like to see this feature implemented.

It is now possible to move a starred task to the top of the list across all platforms. Available in version 2.14.

On my updated iPad (version 2.21) it doesn’t work when you also have a sort order preference selected. It should still move a starred task to the top of any list no matter how it’s sorted.

Excellent news is that the Web App has just gone to 2.16.2 as of today (22 Apr 2020) and the star-move-to-top feature is finally provided (feature was not available in 2.14.7, contrary to Polly's report)! At last, I am in a position to look to transitioning from Wunderlist to Microsoft To-Do. This is in a nick of time, only 14 days before they turn off Wunderlist . I have already moved some of my to-do lists to Todoist, unfortunately. To reiterate, the reason that the feature is important is because you can star then unstar an item (perhaps a bit of a hack workaround) to quickly move it to the top, and there is simply no other way to quickly promote an item right to the top. Without this feature, you have to drag the item manually to the top, which can be exceptionally difficult if you have a long list.

I'm using the web app and there is a setting for this that you can turn on/off. So if you want it, it's there. If you don't want it, then you can leave it off.
For it to work you need to have the sort turned off on the list you're looking at. If you have the list sorted in some other way, it seems to override moving starred items to the top of the list.

I am using version 2.14.7 on the web browser platform. When I star an item, it does not move to the top. Please help: is there some way to change the settings to make starring an item automatically promote it to the top? (Thanks. If we can just get this working before May, I can migrate from Wunderlist to Microsoft-ToDo.)

Do NOT do this. We can drag if we want it I top. “Starring” is used for many other things and it disrupts the order of tasks

The request was for you to some reprogramming so that when a user starred an it is moved AUTOMATICALLY to the top item of the list. As of April 9, 2020 the user must move the item themselves whether there is a star or not. You HAVE NOT fulfilled the request

Guys - its a simple request...why can't you just code it?

Thats nice but Wunderlist automatically moves that item to the top of the list it is in as well as adding it to the starred or important list....

As mentioned below, the web versions (all browsers) are still at 2.13.2 so this doesn't work in a browser, only works in the dedicated apps. Has 2.14 been released for web? If not, please advise if it will be released soon? Really appreciate this being added, thanks!
BTW, this also made me realize that it would be good to have a "Check for Updates" option in settings to force a check and confirm if latest is installed in between automatic updates.

In Wuderlist it works - it doesn't matter what kind of sorting you use

Polly, sorry, but it doesn't work !!!

This feature does actually not work for lists sorted by date. 😭
And after the Star-marked tasks are marked as completed, they should also move to the bottom. -

it works in my mac version of the desktop app. you must remove any existing sorts by clicking the x next to it, then this feature will work.

I'm only seeing this function in the mobile app and not the desktop application. Can you please be sure the same feature is available on the desktop application? I've ensured I have the most up to date version in the Microsoft Store as well.

Go to Google play store and update your app!!!! YA for the starred shooting to the top! Now at least it's easier to put stuff on the top of the list!

Thanks for looking into this. Unfortunately, unless I am missing something, it is still only possible to move starred items to the top if you change the settings to sort by importance and this undoes the ‘sort by creation date’ option. If I want to sort by date and potentially add a star to an item later, I can’t move it to the top. Also, with wunderlist, you could manually move items up and down the list. With todo, you can’t reoder your items to your liking. This is a shame.
Also, I do have the latest version. -
