Open email with Outlook Desktop
Thanks for the Flagged mail connection. It would be great if the email could open in Outlook Desktop instead of OWA.

I couldn't believe it when it opened a webpage for my email - it seemed crazy, nothing works like that usually so why does this. Almost makes the system unuseable.

Wish I could vote more than once for this. I have used To Do for several years and in earnest since March 2020, but I can't make full use of the "Flagged Emails" feature because it doesn't link to Outlook Desktop. When opening OWA emails, only the single email is opened with no access to the chain.

Please add this option asap. Now, it's indeed very annoying that OWA always pops-up. Isn't there a workaround ?

I fully agree this is a needed feature ! Links to OneNote already open the OneNote desktop app.

How can it take so long for MS to create such an obvious fix?

The integration with Outlook desktop app, email and calendar, was the reason I considered MS To Do over the other excellent GTD options for mac users. This is vital and very surprising that it is not native to the app.

One thing that makes opening the mail as a deep link in OWA annoying is that if the flagged email is part of a conversation thread that has had responses since the mail was flagged, the deep link will show just the message that was flagged, with none of the additional context for more recent messages and no way to get to a view of the conversation that the mail is a part of.

This is desperately needed for a simple improvement in daily workflow. Outlook Desktop is the app of choice for myriad people in the business world. I'm surprised Microsoft seems to have given their Office Desktop apps the back seat.

I'm surprised this needed to be suggested. Even more surprised that it is still not an option nearly 2 years later.

Is there any development capacity at all on to do? I see few functionalities being added. And the bare minimum like opening mails from the to do desktop app in de outlook desktop app takes years...

What would be awesome is for you to provide us with an option to backup and restore our emails. I've learned how to recover my deleted outlook emails at https://spinbackup.com/blog/deleted-important-outlook-email-here-is-how-to-recover-it/. Hope to hear from you soon with an answer to this matter.

Agreed, please ensure that exchange accounts open in the outlook app as well. I know sometimes exchange accounts have issues communicating with other apps.
