Categories and a view that shows todos by categories is extremely important otherwise I cannot use it. Do you have a date for a release?

This is much needed! Otherwise it cripples the usability of the app for people that uses this feature in Desktop Outlook

Thank you for rolling this out on the desktop and mobile client soon! And yes: make the categories searchable, please.

Must have sorting/organizing lists by categories. It's kind of useless to me without it.

This is really needed onmobile too. It is nice that you can use categories from the web, but it is quite useless if you can't use them on all other platforms

It's implemented in the web version but not for MacOS and Mobile :(

It’s encouraging that categories have now been added to the web version, but this is nowhere near enough.
In order to be truly functional, categories should be available on the mobile app and desktop version too, and it should be possible to search and to filter by categories.
The whole point of categories is so that you can cut across your lists and view all items with that category, so there needs to an option to show all tasks with a particular category - equivalent to searching a hashtag.
Is there any intention for this to come any time soon? It’s going to affect the extent to which I invest in using this app.

Categories in Outlook Tasks is a great feature and should go as labels/Tags to ms To Do. I use categories to organize my tasks (@office, @home, Calls, waiting for...). Would be fine to have this in TO DO as well. Now I just have a very long list tasks without any chance to overview it. Regards Hans

This should have been included with the flag sync function that was recently released

With so many posts for this feature over multiple years, its' puzzling why this feature isn't being made available. How about a simple sync between Todo lists and outlook categories ? Such an obvious issue w/ the mobile app could use an official communication. Is this thread being monitored ?

Not being able to sort or group by category is making the app essentially useless to me. Really, the entire concept of category is essentially useless. And having to go to outlook to create the categories themselves is a total pain. It should be a bi-directional sync.

Actually this is the reason I am not using To Do in my daily work at all, have to stick to using Outlook Task pane, even though it is not too modern and it's UI doesn't offer a good visibility). I want to use Windows 10 standalone app, and not the browser web app, but even in the latter I cannot group by categories, let alone to have them in separate lists without spending a lot of time Daily sorting them manually. End result: I am not using To Do in any way. It is contraproductive to set a task flag in Outlook, where we receive the emails, and then search for it in To Do to arrange into a list - even though the list itself is a good functionality. I am allocating a category in Outlook, and then ideally these should be sorted automatically to identically named lists within To Do. (Also, as I am using Onenote as well for those Outlook tasks that are complex and lengthy, these also are not integrating with To Do, only through Outlook, which is already a third step from Onenote, therefore adding too much complexity.)

I struggle to effectively use the app without a common set of categories. Please make the categories in Outlook available in the app!

Yes, please add this. I don't want to make individual list for everything. There are a lot of sub categories I would like to have, so it's a must have.

Agree, please take this in consideration with the next product update. Without the ability to add categories, it is hard to sort tasks to context, implementing the GTD system.

Category sorting is a must for me and would love to see 2-level sorting: Category and then due-date.

This appears to be partially implemented - in the ToDo web app (to-do.office.com) you can assign a category to a Task from your Outlook category list.
This really needs to be available in the desktop and mobile apps -

I'm implementing the GTD system (getting things done) and outlook is great, if only the To Do app would integrate categories
