Automatic populating of My Day
I have several Lists each with numerous actions. I assign Due Dates to each action. Every day I have to troll through all my actions and Add to My Day on all those actions which are due today. It would save an awful lot of time if an algorithm could be devised by Microsoft which automatically registers those actions due today in My Day
While we aren’t adding automatic population of due dates to My Day at the moment, we have made some significant changes to the Planned list.
Rolling out on Android now (version 2.17), and coming soon to other platforms, you can now see a distinct Today view in the Planned list. You can also choose to group this view by list so that you get a view of what you have to do today across all your lists. You can choose to close particular lists e.g. Home if you don’t want to see it while at work.
Yes, PLEASE! That is one of the few things that makes me want to look for another app. AS other have suggested, with an on/off option so we have the choice.
Please add this feature - why is there an option to assign a day something needs to be done if it can't automatically be populated in 'My Day' each day (although there should also be the option of not having this happen for those who don't want the feature). I'm juggling 2 medical centres with many, many things that have to be done by a set date - this would be invaluable
I can understand the intent of not auto populating it. You should make it and option to turn on/off. That way for those people who need more reminding especially for repeat tasks, that can be an on/off option as well

Add this feature please
Two years have passed.
Make it optional and finish this agony.

Please add this as an option asap. i'm sick of missing my planned tasks since they do not appear in my day automatically.
Option: Show planned tasks for today in "My Day"
It makes absolutely no sense that this isn't at least an option. Please add.

I definitely want this feature as well, and I don’t see why it isn’t being provided when there are so many votes for it. Every list/reminders app needs a simple today view. It is incredibly tedious to have to add things to “my day” over and over that are daily repeating reminders. Please fix this!
Please add this feature, but make it to be turned on/off for those who want it or don’t. You could also set it to per-event be added to My Day the day of so that it’s not all or nothing. Otherwise, great app and successor to Wunderlist.

I basically just want "my day" to function exactly as it does, but for some items (eg. "Practice piano", "exercise for 30 mins") to be added every day so i can check them off.
The rest i would add manually to "my day" from across my other lists. But it's a pain to add the same items every day for ongoing tasks that also need to be planned for.

This is the one thing stopping me from making this tool my default reminder.
By all means have a manual version, but the whole point of these services (I thought), was so that the thing REMINDS you of stuff.
It’s silly to have manually populate My Day. If you do that, you clearly know what’s important/upcoming anyway! Chances are, that if you are that organised you’d remember the task anyway!

I still have Wunderlist on my phone and there is "Today" smart list. That is all we want - a "Today" auto populate smart list on front page. Not this quasi-solution hidden behind filters in "Planned" list.
It is that simple, no need for 10000 word essay.
I am not impressed at all with Microsoft's response on this, we want this to go into 'my day' not another smart list that myself (and many others) hide and do not use!
Please implement this Microsoft, it can't be that hard!
With respect, many if not most people commenting here just plain don't understand My Day. One person said "What is the purpose of a ToDo App if it doesn' tell me what to do today?" The purpose is to have all your tasks and due dates laid out so that YOU can decide for yourself what to do today. A piece of software can't competently tell you what to do. Let me just reiterate a few points. One, auto-populating My Day would break the feature. Anyone who "gets" My Day already understands why this is. Two, I can't believe how many people are saying that without auto-population they cannot use To Do, like this is some kind of deal breaker. Hey folks, no other task app has this feature! Nobody offers any feature like My Day except Microsoft To Do. Other apps only offer Today and Upcoming lists that are populated based on due dates. To Do has such a list ("Planned"), but My Day is different, on purpose. My Day allows you to decide how your day is going to look. My Day puts you in control of your daily agenda. Whatever you did yesterday, well that was yesterday. Now having said that, My Day already does helpfully *suggest* tasks to add, but it lets you decide. It doesn't just assume it knows what needs to go in, which is good, because it doesn't know. Three, if you don't like adding tasks to My Day manually, then by all means don't! You don't have to. You can already see a list of tasks overdue, due today, tomorrow and next week, in order. That's called Planned, and it's a nice smart list to have. You can use that. If seeing My Day emptied out each morning annoys you, then My Day simply doesn't fit your routine. That's fine. So ignore My Day altogether. Don't insist Microsoft to defeat the purpose of My Day entirely, which is what auto-populating it would do.
And let's clear one thing up once and for all: Wunderlist did NOT have this feature.
For the last month I thought I had screwed something up! Then Googled looking for a solution. Come to find out the program can't do it! OH MY!

Come on man. Just do it.

The functionality to auto populate seems such a basic thing to leave out. It's the most asked question with our user base when it comes to using to-do and the reason most of them won't move from trello. If To-Do truly linked in with Planner in this way, we'd have a lot more chance of persuading them to do so - currently they just ask ' who has the time to do this every day?'.

Please make ALL smartlists groupable by the original lists AND sortable within these groupings !
Otherwise the todos are mixed up in a big mess !

Ideally, I'd love a 'do date' and a 'due date' for each task.
The 'do date' would auto-populate 'My Day' with each of my planned tasks, and the due date would let me see when I *have* to complete a task... (not that I *ever* procrastinate!)
It would also help with forward planning - as many others have said, I don't always have the luxury of planning in the morning - quite often I set myself 'end of week goals' on a Sunday night.
