Automatic populating of My Day
I have several Lists each with numerous actions. I assign Due Dates to each action. Every day I have to troll through all my actions and Add to My Day on all those actions which are due today. It would save an awful lot of time if an algorithm could be devised by Microsoft which automatically registers those actions due today in My Day
For now, you should be able to see the tasks that are due today in your “Planned” smartlist under the “Today” bucket.
Yes please! Feels like an obvious update to implement - happy to see it's being worked on!

Could you please add a flag for if I want a certain recurring task added to "My Day"? I need this for my daily/weekly routines.
THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS, PLEASE!!
I love the MY DAY portion of this app, but I have Same problem. Putting in a due date for TODAY does not automatically move that task to MY DAY on the due date. I have developed a way to make it work for me, but it's still a pain in the butt. Have to make ADDING TO "MY DAY" as it's own TASK.
Having to remember to move tasks from Scheduled to My Day every day is time-consuming and annoying, and having an automated way to do this would improve the app a lot. What's the point of setting dates for tasks if I still have to remember to move them between lists on the day? Or I can just see the scheduled tasks list, which stresses me out as I see all the future tasks that can't be completed yet.
Thank you Microsoft for leaving my poor wee granny at the bus stop for 3 hours! If you had listened to everyone shouting on here about the automatic update of planned tasks into My Day then I would’ve been reminded to pick up Granny Jean instead of getting shouted at and refused any Wethers Originals!
So can we have a positive update on when you are offering this option in settings to update our My Day feature?!
P.S. My granny will be happy for her next bus trip also if you do this
Why don't you just send an email to all Microsoft 365 To Do Users and ask them what they think about what you think is right for us instead of unilaterally deciding what you think is good for us ?
8335 people took the time to tell that's what we need and you still deny what we want.
Those are a handful of all the people that really want what we asked.
Where did you gather the data about the "people" who don't want the be "overwhelmed" on their My Day ?
All other ToDo Apps send their Today tasks to the My Day.
How can we not think about how bad of a monopoly Microsoft is ?
Do you really think that you know what is best for us ?
Ask what users think of you deciding to send what we schedule as Today to a planned folder instead of Today and you'll see.
But ask the question the right way, not a way that the answer will turn at your advantage.
Objectivity is the key.
If I'm wrong, just publish the result of the answers and we will stop argue about it.
@Polly: I super agree with you, but in Outlook (web-version only?) I can only access "Tasks", "MyDay" and all lists I create, but not the "Planned" category.
Thanks for taking care of this!
One method we use is the creation of our tick sheet for the next day. This To Do does not offer this preloading my list for the morning.
I realize we all have different tweaks we use for our daily tasking, but having more opportunity to use the MS Flow to do the auto My Day population based upon due dates seems to be the simplest fix here.
This also applies to the iOS widget, where you can’t see what’s only Due Today without adding everything to My Day manually. Yes, you can change the widget to show Planned, but that will also show future planned tasks which can be misleading/distracting.
To Do should be designed flexibly without forcing users to use it one way.
It would also be great if uncompleted tasks added to My Day today are automatically added to My Day tomorrow.
I wish to understand what is this [My Day] used for. It seems some people find it useful.
However, for the majority of users that don't see it useful. At least add a feature to turn it off. similar to planner, and flag email radio box.
needs to be smarter. it should recognize items that are getting stale and push them to the top of the list or ask if it's still a priority. important, planned, my day, blah, blah, blah. Less is more. Simplify and make this helpful.

The automatic building of "My Day" based on previously assigned or overdue tasks is the key feature I am also seeking as many others have already mentioned. I have stopped using the app because it is not there given it takes too much time to go through the 100s of to do items each day.
Is there a timeframe of when this will be available?
Is there a way to be notified of when available so I can begin using the app again?
I second that request. While planned is OK, I have users who are missing repeating tasks, because they forget to look in the planned section, when setting up their day.
Please populate Today planned list with previous Today's task not completed. That's should be also you intent: if I planned to complete it yesterday it should appear today if task was not fullfilled.
if this is added, it should be optional. One of the advantages of my day is in fact to look through my task lists and decide those things that I need to work on today.
Please roll-over any incomplete to-do's from the previous day's "My Day" into today's list. This would also reduce the amount of time taken to populate today's tasks and allow one to plan in the evening for the next day.
Also, please allow for colour-coding of tasks, or creation of sub-headings under "My Day" so one can distinguish between different types of tasks that need to be done in a day (e.g. urgent, 5-min tasks, reminders, etc.)
Current set up is WAY too time intensive. Why do I need to comb through my list to flag "My Day" items when a quick "if-than" script could do this automatically???
The way it is, "My Day" is utterly useless. I need to see the urgent (= due today or overdue) and the important tasks on one list. There's usually a reason why I added a due date of today. And I don't feel like digging through all lists every day in the morning just to re-add a lot of stuff that some stupid algorithm has thrown out. Guess what, there are tasks that need more than one day to complete. "Suggestions" is not a solution but a clunky workaround. So please please add the option to auto-populate "My day" with the two types of tasks I mentioned (urgent/important).
"My Day" doesn't even do right what it's intended for: If anything, every sane person would populate a list for the next day in the evening. Can't even do that.
