Assign tasks to someone
In the way it was possible in Wunderlist. Or the way one can invite someone on Outlook.

You can now assign tasks with our latest update, 1.62, on iOS, Android, web and Windows. Coming soon to Mac too.
You will also see all the tasks assigned to you in the Assigned to Me list.

Is it possible to assign sub-tasks?
I have a project has a list of tasks (these we can assign to different people to be responsible), but in their turn, these people have to assign sub-tasks to others in order to have that assignment completed.
I was unable to find a way to structure tasks and their assignments to cover this use case.

Task assigned notification is needed. I agree, is that on the roadmap?

Notify when task assigned. I have shared a list with staff, when I added a task or assign a task, what would be useful is if that user got an email notification of the new task assigned. They would then know there is something new for review. We are using office 365

Agree with Jetulain below, I think there is much more that can be explored with this feature. For a project-based environment, sharing a list so that you can assign tasks within that list is cumbersome and limiting. Please upvote my feature request at the following location:

Sarebbe molto comodo poter assegnare attività in to-do ad altri utenti

Hi Polly! Could you send my feedback to the development team manager regarding the actual "assign task" capabilities of TO-DO?
As a sales manager (our company has been Gold Microsoft Partner for more than 20 years) I have much experience managing teams and productivity tools mainly Microsoft and now Office 365.
IMHO I find the actual "Assign task" function almost useless and not finished, and I would suggest the development team to put it back in "Working on it" status. Here are my reasons:
1- The experience of the manager of a team is very frustrating at the moment of sharing a list. This action involves several manual steps and multiple tools: First you should send a link to the user or users by email or whatsapp (in a list by list basis)
2- The recipient user should open the email or whatsapp message and has necessarily activate the link in order to have access to that list. If its manager shares multiple list, the user has to open and access several messages
3- Until each user activates all of the links, the manager is not able to assign tasks withint that list to that specific user
4- there is no way to select multiple lists and share them with multiple users in one simple step
I Suggest doing the following:
1- use the same assign method that you are currently using in Planner by example. I think that you are using Active Directory Users when assingning tasks in Planner
2- If you use AD Users to share lists and assign tasks, you dont have to wait the user to activate the sharing links
3- There should be a simple share and assign interface to include multiple AD users or groups in a single step.
4- There should be a simple interface or filter option to see which tasks are assigned to whom and its current state.
With this functionality I would consider the "Assign feature" as "We have this" status.
I hope that my suggestions will be taken only as constructive criticisms with the aim of contributing to improve this excellent tool as is Microsoft TO-DO.
Best regards!
Javier

The Tasks that cannot be assigned in To-Do are from Outlook... why has this become a problem to avail itself on assigning the tasks to a "List", "Group" or someone that you have shared the link to in the "Group" or "List"?

It seems the only way to assign a task is if it is INSIDE a Shared List. Am I missing something?

Lets go Outlook Team! You are almost there. We need a simple way to manage tasks in teams, and have chats within each task for group members. I'd love to have my work projects integrated with Outlook in a secure environment (our business works with private data). Have your team use Wunderlist and get a feel for it.

While we can assign tasks to persons within to-do, those tasks do not populate back into the Outlook Tasks view (unlike tasks created for yourself within To-Do, which do populate back into Outlook Tasks view). This is a must for members of our organization who do use the Outlook interface to manage tasking and are being assigned tasks by those using To-Do.

How/Where can I see all the tasks assigned BY me to others?

I would like to be able to reassign tasks that have been assigned to me. It seems that the only person who can assign tasks is the person who initially creates the list, then shares it. Is there any reason you can't just adopt all of the features of Wunderlist, we are still using it until you do and it's frustrating that it's no longer supported. Thanks!

Also add a provision to set completeness level. Eg. 50% sub task completed.

Not seeing "Assign to" in the Task Panel in Web Interface. I saw the menu option in some screenshots in some forums. Is it removed?
